They say "Laughter is the best medicine!". Indeed it is and Kapil Sharma is the best doctor who is curing us with his heavy doses of laughter. Such a popular name he has become in every household. Colors Tv channel is grossing huge profits by virtue of this talented stand up comedian Kapil Sharma. Saturday and Sunday nights are no longer spent in partying and boozing. Rather everyone stays up late to watch this guy tickle the entire nation! He has become a national sensation.

I remember Kapil since the days he used to perform at Laughter Challenge amidst greats like Raju Srivastav, who is suddenly lost into oblivion, or maybe overshadowed by this giant's success. I wanted to know what fever was gripping the nation - why was everyone buzzing with the name of this show - comedy nights. So I saw an episode. And believe me I am a huge fan now. So who is this Kapil Sharma after all?  

Kapil  Sharma  was   born on August 18, 1981 in Amritsar, India. Presently he lives in Bandra, Mumbai. He is the son of late Mr. K.C. Sharma who was in the Punjab Police. His brother too is in the Punjab Police. So don't be surprised by his policewala getup. Kapil Sharma started his career by participating  in the comedy reality show named Ustaado Ka Ustaad which featured a rival contest between the contestants of Comedy Circus and those from The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. Kapil Sharma also co –hosted comedy show chote miyan which was telecast in 2008 with Juhi Parmar. He also co hosted The Great Indian laughter challenge season IV with Chandan Prabhakar. The first Punjabi international film awards held in Toronto was also co-hosted by our very own laughter king, Kapil.

 He will be soon seen in a Bollywood movie  ‘Its my life’ with Herman Baweja and Genelia d’Souza in the lead roles. Kapil will also be starring in a movie "Sher khan" by Sohail Khan.

Some industry birds were overheard chirping “Kapil and Preeti are very much in love and they have been seeing each other for more than two years. They both met on the sets of Comedy Circus and gradually started dating.”  Preeti Simoes is the creative director of Comedy Circus. 

By the way, FYI , there is another very famous Kapil Sharma - the director of "I, Me aur Hum". He is the son of India's first astronaut in space Rakesh Sharma.
